Founded by renowned marine life artist and conservationist Wyland, the Wyland Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting, protecting and preserving the world’s oceans, waterways and marine life.
Through public art, hands-on science, educational resources and community programs, the Foundation helps children, families and communities understand the connection between their everyday actions and the health of our waterways. Its work focuses particularly on stopping ocean pollution at its source and inspiring meaningful environmental stewardship.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Education is central to the Wyland Foundation’s work.
Its programs include environmental education resources for classrooms, art programs for students, conservation projects, a mobile clean-water learning experience and the National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation. The Foundation reports that its programs have equipped more than 2 million people with tools and knowledge to protect waterways and better understand their environmental impact.
For Wyland, art and conservation have long been connected. His monumental marine-life murals helped bring attention to oceans and marine mammals in communities around the world, and the Foundation continues that legacy by turning inspiration into action.
