Embellished Art pieces combine fine art with cremated remains, hand-applied texture and detail. Care varies by medium — oil paintings and canvas prints each have their own needs.
Pigment on linen, the long way around
Oil Paintings
An oil painting fully cures over six to twelve months. The varnish layer we apply at release does the heavy lifting; your job is simply to keep the piece in still air and stable light.
Day to day
- Once a season, dust the surface with a clean, dry, soft-bristled brush — a new makeup brush or paintbrush works well — brushing lightly from top to bottom.
- Hang on an interior wall when possible — exterior walls swing with the weather.
- Keep the room between 60–75°F (16–24°C) and 40–55% relative humidity.
Never
- Direct sunlight at any time of day.
- Spray cleaners, water, alcohol, or microfiber cloths — microfiber can catch on raised paint and lift it.
- Hanging above a fireplace, HVAC vent, kitchen, or in a bathroom.
Limited edition, archival coating
Prints on Canvas
Our canvas prints receive a protective archival coating that guards against dust and minor handling. They are lighter and more flexible than paintings, but the printed surface should still be treated with care.
Day to day
- Dust the front and frame with a clean, dry microfiber cloth or a feather duster.
- Keep the piece in a stable, climate-controlled room on an interior wall.
- Handle by the frame or stretcher bars, never by the canvas surface.
Never
- Direct sunlight, even with UV-protective coating. Light damage is cumulative.
- Water, cleaning sprays, and damp cloths on the printed surface.
- Touching the canvas face or leaning objects against it.
